About SPARC BC Income Security Work

SPARC BC has a long history of working to advance income security for all British Columbians. People who lack sufficient income to cover basic living costs, who cannot afford to eat a healthy diet, or who cannot pay for safe and healthy housing, lack income security. Adequate income security also includes ensuring that all persons genuinely feel that they are part of their community and can participate in a reasonable range of community activities.

Core Projects

Poverty reduction in Canada has become a top priority for many organizations, especially for SPARC BC. What do we know about the BC context of poverty reduction? How do we measure against the other provinces on poverty reduction strategies? In this 2010/11 year, SPARC BC is working to research a number of elements related to poverty reduction. We will publish our findings and create resource guides for communities, as well as engage with communities on the topic of poverty reduction.
